Making money online
I have been around this topic on so many websites that I have lost count. I think it’s about time to write a post on how to really make money on the web and where to be careful.
The opportunities of the web are plentiful, to say the least! But the number of scams and tricks are even higher! Therefore you should be careful when you decide to make your money online and follow these steps for a safe and easy entrance in the big market that we all rely on so deeply.
I will talk about and share my experience with some of the ways I have tried to make money. I will dig into these subjects:
- Paid surveys and survey-sites
- Reading mail for cash
- Affiliate programs
and - Advertising on your website
Paid surveys
Many fortune 500 companies (with a lot of money to blow) are really interested in consumer opinions and how people see their organization or product, so they pay millions of dollars to marketing experts (survey sites) to find that out for them. The way the experts do that is to pay YOU for your opinion.
You might have heard stories about paid survey sites that promise you that you can make thousands of dollars answering surveys online or even doing it for a living. It’s true that you can earn some money by answering surveys but trust me you will have a really hard time accomplishing this (if possible at all) and it’s not as easy for everyone!
I myself have subscribed to dozens of paid survey websites and also made some money on it; actually in the first week after making the decision to try it I had already made 30 bucks, not much compared to what I expected, but rather neat for a first weeks try-out. I thought that it was a great idea, how could I have missed an opportunity like this for so long?! But it wasn’t jolly days waiting in the future and it wasn’t long before I started to loose the enthusiasm… I have spent hours answering surveys and profile questionnaires on various sites only to be disappointed and kinda ticked off. See, these sites have a minimum balance requirement that you have to reach before you can request a cash-out, and trust me, it’s gonna take awhile before you get there… IF you’re in the same state as myself: Living in a random country in Europe.
You see, these sites do offer surveys and they really do pay, the only problem is that for you to take a survey you have to qualify for the survey. Many of the top survey sites are positioned in the US and the companies interested in hearing about consumer reactions and opinions only need their answers from people who are familiar with their products, which roughly means: American product, American opinions.
I learned that if YOU were to have the best chance of getting paid good cash for taking surveys you should follow these criteria:
Live in the US, have a good job beforehand and have some deadly disease
I may have exaggerated a bit you think, but no. Medical firms are one of the best paying sites out there, the only downside is that you need a disease which needs periodical treatment or medicine. I don’t know why medical firms are so eager to get to people but they really do pay well…
The above criteria was only for maximum profit - NOT necessary to earning money on surveys.
If you’re interested in trying it out you should always remember:
REAL SURVEY SITES WILL NOT CHARGE YOU FOR ACCESS!!!
There are many hustlers out there trying to fool you into paying them money, personally I think it’s despicable.
But it is still the most important lesson in the whole survey ordeal. Legitimate survey offering websites DO NOT try to charge you anything.
The next most important thing is to get yourself a Paypal account. If you are not familiar with Paypal, it’s a service that many vendors support and is a system for online payment and receive of pay. Having a Paypal spares you from a lot of nerves when it’s time to pay. This is especially good if you are uncomfortable with typing your credit card numbers on many different websites. with paypal the other end will never get your card-information, instead they will be transferred to your paypal account where you can transfer the money to your card easily and secure.
Okay, I have a list of the sites that I have used and had a good experience with HERE, but these are some of the best:
One of the biggest providers of paid surveys – frequent surveys - www.surveyhead.com
Pays you 5$ just to join – less frequent surveys - www.spidermetrix.com
Frequent surveys and lots of little-paying quickies - www.surveysavvy.com
More or less frequent surveys – pays well
If you live in Denmark as in my case I suggest you look at these:
All well-paying and frequent surveys
- Gratis-ting.dk Forbrugerpanel
- www.triabapanel.dk
Pays you in gift cards for cdon.com, matas, fona and such.
Databases of paid survey websites:
SurveyInferno.com
YellowSurveys.com
BestPaidSurvey.net
Paid Surveys
Reading mail for cash
I will say this as it is. It is NOT worth it. You will get paid 0.2$ per email, 2 -3 mails per day and there is also a balance limit for cash-out, usually 30$. That means you have to read 150 emails and respond to ads. That includes waiting at least 1 minute on the advertising company’s website. Reading 150 emails with 2 – 3 a day will take 50 to 75 days that’s is 2 months average. So you will get paid 15$ a month. And then comes all the spam you receive for clicking on the ads (which is what they pay you to do) which is a nightmare. Just forget about it now.. It will never be a good idea…
Affiliate programs and advertising
Another possibility is making money on blog entries. Since I’m not that experienced in that area I will recommend for you to read up on this: How To Make Money On Your Blog
